"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." ~ 1 Peter 3:15-16

The Art of Naming

The very first task of parenting, is none other than naming the babe. And it is really not easy to think of a suitable name! There are quite alot of factors to consider while thinking for one. Most importantly it has to be meaningful, and it shouldn't be too long, too complex, serve as tongue twister or prone to be made fun of. You don't want to have a fantastic name when no one wants to use it. I figure Adam and Eve must had a tough time back then, but at least Adam had a practice round with the animals! And while I do have an 'obsession' of using greek words as the basis for names, it seems that my relatives would most likely veto the chosen few. Wouldn't it be good if God would name the babe Himself, like in those days?
